Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (4)
The recruits. Brotherhood's most formally original mechanic — the building of a network of assassins, each recruit a person found at their lowest point and given a purpose. The Brotherhood is not an institution that Ezio inherited. It is one he is building from scratch inside enemy territory, one recruit at a time, the organization forming in response to the need rather than existing before it.
Summoned in the darkest hour is the precise description of what each recruit is at the moment of their recruitment — someone in a dark hour who responds to the call. The Brotherhood that emerges from these sessions is not grand. It is particular: these specific people, found in these specific circumstances, trained and trusted and sent out to do the work that Rome requires.
