Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (8)
The Borgia towers come down in this session β the literal architecture of surveillance and control dismantled, the sight lines of Borgia power interrupted. The lies are the towers' symbolic function: they tell Rome that resistance is impossible, that the Borgia presence is permanent, that the city belongs to Cesare and always will. Tearing them down is not just military. It is communicative β a message to the Roman population that the impossible is being attempted.
Rebuilding starts with the tearing down because the lies have to be removed before the truth of a possible different Rome can be planted in the space they occupied. The Borgia towers were not neutral infrastructure. They were arguments about what was possible. Their absence is a counter-argument.
