Assassin's Creed II (Part 11)

The Carnival and the political machinations behind it β€” the game using Venice's masquerade tradition as the literal expression of the city's social function. Every mask is accurate: Venice in this period is a city of performed identities, of merchants pretending to be nobles and nobles pretending to be devout and everyone pretending that the arrangements are stable. The motive sharpened by concealment is the game's argument about what masks do to the people wearing them.
