The mythical creatures arrive in earnest in this session — the Medusa, the Minotaur, the legendary animals that Odyssey places alongside its human enemies as equal challenges. The monsters on the battlefield are the literal challenge. The monsters in the heart are the Cult members who turn out to be family, the choices that require doing harm to people who should be protected, the specific cost of a journey that keeps arriving at the wrong destination.

Fighting both simultaneously is the game's honest acknowledgment that the external conflict and the internal one are running in parallel and neither resolves cleanly while the other continues. Kassandra defeats the Medusa. The family situation does not resolve as cleanly.
