Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Part 19)

The Isu storyline deepens in this session — the Pieces of Eden, the ancient civilization that created humanity, the specific way that the Greek gods map onto Isu technology and history. Kassandra does not need to believe in Athena or Apollo to find herself in opposition to the forces those figures represent. The anger she generates in the divine order is not theological. It is operational: she keeps doing things that disrupt the pattern they have been maintaining.

Not needing to believe is the Eagle Bearer's most useful characteristic in a world organized around divine authority. She takes the gods as given without taking them as constraints. The Isu artifacts she carries are evidence of a technology she does not fully understand and does not need to understand in order to use. The anger follows from the using.
