Death Stranding 2 (Part 14)

Sam and Tomorrow reach whatever the game decides counts as the end, and the title of the game is finally a statement rather than a description. Death Stranding — the condition, the extinction event, the world in which the boundary between living and dead has become permeable — cannot tear apart what was built across these sessions. The strands hold. The connection that should not have been made, that cost everything it cost, that survived everything thrown at it, is still there.

The game ends with the series' central proposition restated as fact. Connection is not the safe choice. It is not the easy choice. It is the choice that makes you vulnerable to every loss that comes after. It is also the only choice that produces something the world cannot take back — the strand that persists even when death tries to dissolve it, the relationship that exists in the space where the beach and the world of the living overlap.
