The presidency of the UCA is the name given to the project of reconnection, the official title of the person responsible for the Chiral Network, the strand the game is building session by session.

Amelie intending to take it up is the game's midpoint restatement of its purpose. Sam is not just delivering cargo or rescuing his sister. He is completing the political infrastructure that will allow something called the United Cities of America to become a real thing rather than a name on a mission briefing. The presidency is the destination that justifies the road.
