Destiny 2: Heresy

The Heresy campaign is Destiny 2's most theologically considered season — the Hive have always worshipped power, and the argument the season makes is that the worship is unnecessary, that what the Hive mistake for divinity is simply will expressed without limit. The Witness is gone. The structure of cosmic authority that organized the Light and Darkness conflict is dissolving. What fills the vacuum is purpose, the specific direction that a Guardian or a Hive champion gives their power when the external authority that previously assigned meaning is no longer present.

The session is long enough to feel the season's particular rhythm — the Dreadnaught revisited, Savathûn's architecture repurposed, the familiar spaces of Destiny's Hive mythology now asking different questions than they asked before. The epigram is the season's thesis and also the simplest description of what has made Guardians effective across ten years of Destiny's fiction: not the Light, not the Ghost, not the blessing of the Traveler. The decision to keep going.
