Taniks is one of Destiny's recurring antagonists, the Fallen mercenary who keeps returning through various mechanical and narrative means and whose Nightmare form is the Moon's engagement with the specific grief of having killed something that comes back. Grenades and hope is the Guardian's resource list — the tactical (grenades, damage options, the grenade ability cooldown) and the motivational (hope, the reason the grenade is being thrown in the first place). The future built from both is Destiny's most honest description of what the game asks you to do every session.
