Hackett's Quarry summer camp — the last night, the counselors who should have left, the thing in the woods that the Hackett family has been managing for longer than the counselors know. The Quarry is Until Dawn's spiritual successor in the summer camp setting and the teen horror register, with the additional complexity of a monster mythology that has human faces at its center.

Monsters wearing fangs or faces is the game's first act establishing both — the werewolf threat in the woods and the Hackett family as the human threat on the property, the two horror registers running simultaneously before the game reveals how they relate to each other.
