Abby and Owen. The flashbacks to what the WLF was before it calcified into what it is now, before the ideology became total, before the people inside it became defined entirely by their role within it. The world they lost is not the pre-outbreak world — that is too far gone to miss concretely. The world they lost is the earlier version of themselves, the people they were when the structure still felt like a choice.

Abby does not miss Seattle before the Seraphite war. She misses the version of herself who believed the WLF was building something worth the cost. The loss of that belief is quieter than the loss of a person but it leaves the same shaped hole, the same question of who you are now that the thing organizing you is gone.
