Ghost of Yōtei (Part 2)
The six names are the structure of the game — Atsu's list, the men she has come to find, the hunt that organizes the Ezo landscape into a series of encounters with specific people who made a specific choice sixteen years ago. The lifetime the epigram warns of is not metaphorical. These are not enemies she can find in a single session. They are embedded in the fabric of Ezo's power structures, protected by the organizations they have built around themselves.
The path also means the becoming. Ghost of Yotei is interested in what the hunt does to the hunter — whether the sixteen years of preparation produced a weapon or a person, whether the completion of the list will resolve something or simply expose what was always underneath the purpose. The path may take a lifetime because the thing at the end of it is not simply the six names.
