Mortal Kombat 1 (Part 1)

Liu Kang's New Era β€” the timeline reset, the god who survived MK11's time-bending conclusion remaking the realms according to a design that is supposed to correct the cycles of violence that defined the old timeline. The battle for realms beyond mortal limits is the franchise restatement: Mortal Kombat has always been about forces that are larger than any individual fighter, the realms as the stakes rather than a trophy. Part 1 establishes the new order by showing what Liu Kang built and immediately introducing the threats to it.

The New Era is Mortal Kombat at its most philosophically explicit β€” the attempt to break the cycle, the recognition that what was rebuilt rather than renewed carries the seeds of what it replaced. The battle begins again, in a world that was supposed to be different.
