Tomb Raider: Base Camp
The first tools, the first camp, the first kills β Lara's transformation from the person who arrived to the person who can function in this environment. Pain teaches specifically: each encounter with the island's hostility adds to the understanding of what it requires to survive here. Fire shapes in both senses β the campfire as the safe space where the character upgrades happen, and the fire as the physical experience of the island's violence. Survival rewriting everything is the origin story's central claim: the Lara who leaves Yamatai will not be the Lara who arrived.
