Tomb Raider: Introduction
The Endurance, the storm, the island of Yamatai β the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot's first twenty minutes establishing who Lara is before the island teaches her what she will become. She came as an archaeologist, a scholar, someone for whom the past is the subject of study. The island refuses this relationship: it does not allow observers, only participants. Lara becomes part of the past it is protecting by surviving into its ongoing present, by becoming the latest addition to the record of people who arrived here and were changed.
