Death Stranding: Mama Dies
The division of the work between them β the network as a shared creation, the sisters as the two halves of a system that neither could complete alone. This is the game's clearest statement of what the Chiral Network actually is: not Bridges' construction, not the president's vision, not Sam's delivery work, but the accumulated contribution of everyone who agreed to be connected, each person's inclusion making the whole more complete. Mama and Lockne made half each, which means the network carries the shape of their relationship inside it.
Mama's death is the session's event and the game does not make it small. She has been carrying something impossible since the Stranding, and the release is both loss and completion, the cord finally cut in the way that the living world recognizes as an ending. Lockne receives half of herself back. The network receives its completion. Sam moves forward carrying the weight of someone who will not be there to see what the carrying produced.
