Tomb Raider: Hunter's Moon

The distinction is the game's central argument. The previous two games in the trilogy were survival narratives — Lara on the island, Lara in Siberia, the competence built under pressure, the transformation from tourist to predator. Shadow asks what the predator does when she was the one who created the need for predation. Atoning rather than surviving is the harder frame because survival is reactive and atonement requires acknowledging the thing that made it necessary.

The jungle of Cozumel and the approach to Kuwaq Yaku is the game establishing that Lara knows what she has done. She is not confused about her role in what is happening. The question is whether knowing is sufficient preparation for fixing it.
